
The laboratory won the 2024 Excellence Scholarship of Ocean University of China
Recently, the opening ceremony of 2024 graduate students of Ocean University of China was held in the Comprehensive gymnasium of Laoshan Campus. Tian Hui, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ocean University, Zhang Junfeng, president and other leaders attending the meeting personally awarded the Ocean University Graduate Excellence Scholarship. The Graduate Excellence Scholarship is the highest award and honor for graduate students of the university, and is an important part of the university's top-notch innovative talent training system.
The school's 2024 Graduate Excellence Scholarship will be awarded to only one winning team. Han Wentao, Yu Hongwei, Liu Liangjie, Wei Huilan and Zhang Lijing from the Shellfish Genetics and Evolution Team received the award. The award-winning team, under the guidance of Academician Zhenmin Bao, Professor Shi Wang and Professor Lingling Zhang, innovated and developed cutting-edge omics analysis methods, and cracked the secret of the 350 million year "eternal youth" of the oldest allop homomorphic chromosomes in the animal kingdom, opening up a new research direction for understanding the origin and evolution of sex and genetic regulation. The research results have been published in the top international journals Nature Ecology & Evolution (cover article) and Nature Protocols. This award marks that the laboratory has achieved remarkable results in inspiring graduate students to climb academic peaks and training innovative talents.
