Prof. Bao Lisui was nominated for the 2024 Shandong Youth Marine Science and Technology Award and Young Scientist of Marine Power

Recently, the results of the 2024 Shandong Marine Science and Technology Innovation Award and the search for "Marine Power Young Scientists" activity were officially announced, and Professor Bao Lisui of the laboratory was awarded the Shandong Youth Marine Science and Technology Award and nominated for Young scientists of Marine Power.

Professor Lisui Bao is engaged in the analysis of the characteristics and adaptation mechanisms of aquatic animals' genomes. He has established complex genome assembly and scanning techniques, drawn high-precision genome maps of many important aquatic species, and revealed the evolution and sex determination mechanism of isomorphic chromosomes in fish and shellfish. He has published 10 papers in Nature Cancer, Nature Ecology & Evolution, Nature Communications and other high-level journals as the first author and corresponding author. He presided over the "14th Five-Year Plan" national key Research and development program, the National Natural Science Foundation project and the Shandong Province Overseas Outstanding Youth project.

The Shandong Marine Science and Technology Innovation Award is mainly awarded to scientific and technological innovation achievements and outstanding scientific and technological researchers in the fields of Marine industry development, Marine protection and development, Marine management and Marine public services, and Marine standardization construction. Among them, the Young Marine Science and Technology Award aims to reward young scientific and technological workers who have made outstanding academic achievements or applied achievements in scientific research, technology development, management and public service in the Marine field.

The activity of searching for "Young Scientists of Maritime Power" was co-organized by China Youth Newspaper and China Pacific Society. This activity is aimed at scientific and technological workers from universities, research institutes and science and technology enterprises in the Marine field across the country, aiming to select those under the age of 40 who have outstanding achievements in original leading scientific and technological research, original basic research and core technology research in order to solve the bottleneck constraints of Marine economic development, and devote themselves to basic research. Scientific and technological workers who have made significant contributions to promoting self-reliance in Marine science and technology. After organizing and submitting reports and expert review, 10 "Young Scientists of Ocean Power" and 30 "Nominated Young Scientists of Ocean Power" were finally selected in 2024.
